How To Play

Overview

Heroes of Fortune is a turn-based, competitive, multiplayer mobile game where players raid dungeons together and compete to collect the most treasure.

Dungeons

Each dungeon is filled with treasure, traps, monsters and occasionally, mysterious shrines

Treasure

Treasure comes in 2 forms - Gems and Relics

Gems

When gems are discovered they are divided equally among players present. For example, if 4 players discover 9 gems, they collect 2 each, with 1 left over.

Leftover gems are left behind. The first player (or players) to return to camp collect any gems that have been left behind.

Relics

Relics are small statues worth multiple gems. Relics can’t be divided, so instead of being collected, they are left behind, along with leftover gems. If more than one player returns at the same time, no one collects the Relic, since it can’t be divided.

In order to collect a Relic, a player must return to camp alone.

Traps

Traps vary in how much damage they deal, but all players receive the same amount of damage. Players can equip defensive gear to reduce their damage or agility gear to increase their chances of dodging.

If a player is especially lucky, a trap might miss them.

Monsters

The harder a monster is to kill, the more loot it is likely to drop. Monsters have different vulnerabilities, resistances and immunities, so some weapons will be more effective than others.

When attacking, monsters choose their targets at random. Some attacks can trigger conditions such as burning, bleeding or poisoning. Keep an eye on a player’s health bar to see their condition status.

Shrines

Mysterious statues, known as shrines, offer both respite and danger. Shrines present players with voting challenges and the winners or losers can receive either blessings or curses.

Gameplay

Each dungeon raid takes place across 3 rounds. While raiding dungeons, players are either exploring or fighting.

Exploring

Dungeons are explored room by room. When exploring, players have 2 simple choices:

- Keep Going to see what’s in the next room, or…
- Return to camp, to bank any treasure collected so far

Each player decides their move individually. If a player is knocked out, they will drop their currently collected treasure. Players must balance risk and reward to win!

Fighting

Combat is turn-based and players choose from 3 moves:

- Attack
- Defend
- Flee

Attack

Attack monsters to kill them, but note - attacking leaves you vulnerable. If you attack on your turn, you can’t defend on the monster’s turn.

In combat, the killing blow wins the loot, so choose when and which monster to attack carefully.

Single vs Multi-Target

Some weapons offer single or multi-target attacks. Single-target attacks deal a weapon’s full damage. Multi-target attacks hit all enemies simultaneously, but the damage per target is less.

Special

Some weapons have a special attack. The special charges up between turns and when a player defends against an attack. A fully charged can be unleashed with enormous damage.

Defend

Shields absorb all damage until they are destroyed. Defending without a shield reduces the amount of damage received.

Defending can be used as a strategy to try to deal the final blow!

Flee

Flee from a fight in order to bank any collected treasure. Any treasure left behind can’t be collected when fleeing (see Treasure).
